Service Charge and Tips

In commercial establishments in Paraná, there is usually a service charge of 10% to 15%. This value can be included in the bill or calculated separately by the customer as the service charge is not mandatory. In general, the service charge is not left on top of the table or handed to the waiter. It is paid at the cashier together with the bill.

Some establishments charge entrance fee or couvert, which is not a service charge and is based on the policies of each location.

In hotels, bars, restaurants and taxis, tips are not included but it is always a good idea to tip employees when possible.
