Currency, Cash and Exchange Bureaus

The legal currency is the Brazilian Real and it is divided into 100 cents. There are bills of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 reais and coins of 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 cents and of 1 real.

The most common credit cards are accepted everywhere, especially Visa, MasterCard and American Express. Cheques are generally accepted in large hotels, stores and some restaurants.

There are exchange bureaus in the main cities of Paraná. Airports also offer currency exchange services.
Banks are generally open from 9.00 or 10.00 a.m. to 3.00 or 4.00 p.m., from Monday to Friday. Most ATMs are available 24/7.
